Abstract

1,266,578. Bobbin holders. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. 27 Oct., 1970 [19 Aug., 1969], No. 41395/69. Heading D1J. The bobbin holder of this invention comprises a double balloon spring 7 comprising a first balloon section 8 and a larger diameter balloon section 9 interconnected by a split sleeve 10. The double balloon spring 7 is slidably mounted on a spindle 1 and is held in position by an inwardly directed lug 12 on the sleeve 10 engaging in a selected one of three axially spaced circumferential grooves (13a, not shown in Fig. I as it is surrounded by the split sleeve 10), 13b, 13c in the spindle 1. An adaptor 4 is fixed to the spindle 1 in the position shown and has concentric stepped surfaces 5 of different diameters to receive bobbins of different sizes. The spindle 1 is supported at one end by a pair of lugs 2 and 3 from which it can be withdrawn when required. Figs. 4 to 9 (not shown) show how the bobbin holder can be used to support a variety of different shaped bobbins.
