Abstract

1,069,892. Supporting creel bobbins. R. K. WHITEHEAD AND R. K. WHITEHEAD, JUN. May 7, 1964 [Dec. 3, 1963], No. 19074/ 64. Heading D1J. A bobbin holder comprises a central body C slidably movable in a tubular member S, pawls 51, 52 for holding a bobbin and operatively connected to body C, and means for positioning the pawls, in response to movement of the bobbin relative to member S, alternatively in a position inside member S and in a bobbin engaging position outside member S. To release a bobbin B from the pawls the bobbin is pushed up the member S, thus pushing a sleeve and body C connected thereto by arms 32, 34 extending through slots in the member so that pawls 51, 52 are cammed inwards by edges 105 of the member. A camming ball 99, movable within a transverse groove 63 in the body C and within a channel 101 in one half 44 of member S, is thus caused to move up the right hand (Fig. 3) section of channel 101 and then falls into recess 107. In this position the pawls are held retracted and the old bobbin can be replaced by a new one which on pressing the sleeve upwards causes ball 99 to rise out of recess 107 thus allowing it to travel down the left hand section of channel 101 so that the pawls move outwardly to hold the bobbin. The bobbin holder is suspended from a creel rail.
