Abstract
1,265,574. Laminated sheet material. CHEMIEFASER LENZING A.G. 13 May, 1969 [13 May, 1968], No. 24288/69. Heading B5N. A sheet material comprises a flat ribbon fabric, the weft and warp ribbons of which are monoaxially stretched, having bonded thereto by means of an adhesive, a polyolefin foil which has been stretched in at least one direction. A foil ribbon fabric is defined as being a fabric made by cutting a foil into ribbons, stretching the ribbons and weaving them into a loose fabric. The polyolefin foil may be monoaxially or biaxially stretched. The sheet material may comprise two polyolefin foils, the two foils being oriented so that the direction in which one has been stretched is substantially at right-angles to that of the other. In a preferred embodiment, the adhesive comprises an aqueous dispersion of a polyvinyl butyl ether and/or a polyacrylic ester and a low molecular weight polyethylene, the use of such an adhesive being stated to obviate the necessity of conditioning the polyolefin foil(s) prior to bonding.
