Abstract

1,262,888. Electrographic imaging. XEROX CORP. Feb. 21, 1969 [Feb.23, 1968 , No. 9484/69. Heading G2H. An imaging member having conductive areas and insulating areas or having areas of relatively high capaticance and relatively low capaticance (as seen from the electrode(s) mentioned below) is developed in a liquid developer comprising finely divided pigment particles dispersed in an electrically insultating carrier liquid by applying a potential to at least one electrode immersed in the developer so as to produce a non-uniform electric field. The electric field is preferably produced by one or more knife-edge coronodes. The imaging member may be an xerographic drum exposed through an original in the drum, a conductive drum bearing an insulating image or a conductive drum having a relief surface completely covered with an insulating layer.
