Abstract
1,262,344. Dyeing textile webs. ARTOS DR-ING MEIER-WINDHORST K.G. 3 Feb., 1969 [3 Feb., 1968; 10 June, 1968; 24 July, 1968; 23 Dec., 1968], No. 5599/69. Heading D1L. A heated web is brought into contact with a heated treatment liquid whilst they are moving in the same direction. As shown, a textile web 1 is passed through a heating, or heating and de-aeration, zone 12 into a liquid treating zone 5 over upper and lower guide rolls 7 and 8, guide rolls 8 rotating in semi-cylindrical basins 3 through each of which a heated treatment liquid 2 flows in succession in the same direction as the web. The web is wiped by rollers 13 and heated by radiant heaters 6 after passing through the liquid. The temperature of the liquid is maintained by steam, hot water or heating fluids flowing through jackets 4 attached to the basins 3. After passing squeeze roll 9 at the exit to the zone 5, the web is passed through a heating zone 10 and air-wiping device 11. In modifications, the lower guide rolls 8 are replaced by doublewalled semi-cylindrical basins; mixing chambers are provided between successive basins and have agitating rollers or steam jets to mix the liquid transversely; the lower guide rolls are provided with axial grooves or corrugations; and the radiant heaters 6 may be replaced by hot air, saturated or superheated steam, or contact heaters incorporated into the upper guide rolls 7.
