Abstract

1,259,796. Sterilizing liquids. ELECTROLUX A.B. 6 May, 1969 [6 May, 1968], No. 22968/69. Heading A2D. [Also in Division A5] Bottles 12 in autoclave 10, having been steam sterilized in the usual way by steam supplied by conduit 13 and nozzles 18, are cooled by introducing into the autoclave a mist of cold water and air. The process used comprises supplying compressed air to the autoclave chamber via the conduit 19 and valve 20 to force out the remaining steam and then opening the water supply valve 26 whereby a spray of water is fed into the chamber 23 where it forms a mist with the compressed air which passes into the autoclave and serves to cool the bottles. Alternate blasts of mist and dry compressed air may be used, the air supply rate being controlled by an actuator 21 which reacts under the influence of the device 22 which is sensitive to the pressure inside the autoclave.
