Abstract

1,255,965. Supply systems for heating apparatus. WARMEX Ltd., and A. GOLDSTEIN. 6 Nov., 1969 [11 Nov., 1968], No. 53228/68. Heading H2H. A heating device for vehicles comprises an overlay 1 for a seat of the vehicle, the overlay being provided with low voltage heating elements 2 which can be energized from a battery 3 and high voltage heating elements 4 which are energizable from a mains supply 5, the device further including a battery charger 6 to charge the battery 3 and which is connected to the mains supply 5 whenever the high voltage elements 4 are energized together with a cut-out 7 which prevents energization of the low voltage elements 2 when the high voltage elements 4 are energized. If desired an engine heater 8 may be connected to the mains supply 5. The cut-out 7 is an electromagnetic device with a normally closed contact which opens to de-energize the low voltage elements 2 when the cut-out is energized by the mains supply 5. A manually operable switch 11 is provided to permit deenergization of the low voltage elements 2 and this switch may be incorporated in a control panel with indicator lamps 9, 10. Each of the elements 2, 4 may be provided with thermal cutouts to limit the temperatures developed by these elements. Furthermore a time switch may be used to control the energization period of the low voltage elements 2.
