Abstract

[Also in Division F4] A hit-or-miss valve suitable for use in storage heaters comprises two correspondingly apertured plates 17, 18, plate 17 being suspended from plate 18 by slings 22 and being movable by bi-metallic strips 19 sensing the temperature, e.g. in the heating compartment of a storage heater. Carbon blocks 26 carried by plate 18 pass through slots 25 in plate 17 to engage the front surface thereof to prevent relative movement of the plates transverse to their plane. One cable only may be used to support plate 17; alternatively the latter may be carried by the bi-mstallic strips engaging pivoted blocks 27 (Fig. 3, not shown) on plate 17. Fig. 1, not shown, shows the valve controlling by-pass air in a storage heater 10.
