A floor or roof construction comprises a lattice-work of lattice beams 1 rigidly connected together laterally by, e.g. rods 16, and providing projections 6 over which a metal mesh layer can be located to act as permanent shuttering for a concrete layer 9. The latticework is supported on beams 2 and in turn supports a lathing 12 by means of the rods 16 and downwardly-projecting parts of diagonal rods 5, whose upper ends constitute the projections 6, in the embodiment shown. The upper ends of adjacent rods 5 can be joined together to form upper U-bends, and the lower ends similarly joined beneath the lathing 12, which is then held in position by wedges passed through the loops formed by the U-bends.
