Abstract

1,255,471. Tubular heat exchangers. C. A. PARSONS & CO. Ltd. 3 Feb., 1969 [3 Nov., 1967], No. 50044/67. Heading F4S. A tubular heat exchanger comprises a casing 8 housing at least one bank of tubes 6, 7 having their ends supported on a tube plate forming part of a ring-shaped header duet, the crosssection of which is a major segment of a circle with the tube plate forming a chord. As shown, the tubes are of U-shape, and the header is divided by plates (not shown) into inlet and outlet portions 11, 12. In alternative forms, two ring-shaped headers may be used, one acting as inlet and the other as outlet header, for U- shaped tubes, or tubes may be connected at one end to a tube-plate forming part of a lower ring- shaped header whilst the other ends are supported in an upper cylindrical or polygonal header.
