Abstract
1,254,259. Coated tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 June, 1970 [5 June, 1969], No. 26826/70. Heading B2E. [Also in Division H1] A conductive layer on the inner surface of a discharge tube consists of a mixture of graphite and aluminium oxide. The coating may be obtained by adding an aqueous suspension of boehmite (AlOOH) to dry graphite in vacuum in the proportions 15 parts graphite : 15 parts boehmite : 70 parts water. After thorough stirring for two hours the graphite suspension is sprayed onto the inner surface of the tube and the tube is subjected to a number of firing operations up to a temperature of 450‹C. Aluminium hydroxide may replace the boehmite.
