Abstract

1401338 Cathode ray tubes RCA CORPORATION 24 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 54447/72 Heading H1D A conductive coating for the interior of the envelope of a cathode ray tube consists essentially of graphite particles, iron oxide particles and an alkali silicate binder. Such a coating has a point to point resistance of between 200 and 2000 ohms per inch. Preferably, the coating consists of 100 p.p.w. graphite particles (90% below 10Á diameter), 200 to 600 p.p.w. ironoxide, preferably Fe 2 O 3 (90% below 10Á diameter), and 50 to 150 p.p.w. sodium silicate. The latter is dissolved in 400 to 1500 p.p.w. water containing a dispersant. The aqueous suspension is brushed on to the internal wall of the neck of the tube and then sprayed on to the internal wall of the funnel. It is dried and baked at a temperature of between 200‹ and 450‹ C.
