Abstract

1,253,973. Liquid level control. DISTILLERS CO. (CARBON DIOXIDE) Ltd. Jan. 13, 1970 [Oct.22, 1968], No. 50060/68. Heading G1H. In equipment in which beer is drawn by a pump from a bulk container through a pipe 1 into a glass cylinder 3 and leaves through a pipe 2, a reed switch 4 is arranged adjacent or above the pipe 1 and a float containing a magnet 9, floats on the beer, the arrangement is such that as carbon dioxide gas collects in the cylinder 3 the beer level 18 and hence the float 5 drops until the magnet 9 actuates switch 4 to close a contact in a switch 10 to isolate a circuit 11, controlling the pump, and complete a circuit to a warning lamp. A valve 7 is manually operated to allow all the gas to escape through a pipe 6 and then closed and a push button operated to resume normal operation. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the float is provided with two magnets and two reed switches one of which is in circuit with the valve 6.
