Abstract

1,251,470. Containers. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN A.B. 30 Sept., 1970 [30 Sept., 1969], No. 46615/70. Heading F4H. A refrigerating container 1, for use with a road vehicle and having a cargo space 3 enclosed by an insulating shell 2, has at one end a recess so as to form an upper insulated chamber 5 and a lower uninsulated chamber 4, such that the chambers enclose a cooling coil battery 7 and a circulation blower of a refrigeration system in the upper chamber 5 and a condenser-compressor network 8 of the system in the lower chamber 4. Conduit means 9 which extend through the insulating shell of the container interconnect the two portions of the refrigeration system. By opening a heat insulated cover in the top of the container, a fork-lift truck is able to lift the refrigeration system away from the container and replace it, without disturbing the cargo. The conduit means 9 is accommodated in a slot (12, Fig. 4) normally closed by an insert of insulating material.
