Abstract

1,249,893. Magnetrons. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 21 Nov., 1968 [24 Nov., 1967], No. 55255/68. Heading H1D. The excitation of the next higher mode to the # mode in a strapped multicavity magnetron is prevented by the provision of a short-circuit connection 9 across the end of one of the cavities, which connection is positioned between the straps 3, 4 and the radially outermost edge of the anode vanes 2, and at an angle of 45‹ or 135‹ with respect to the output line 5, 6 of the magnetron. As shown, up to four such connections may be provided, and they may be repeated at the opposite end of the magnetron.
