Abstract
1,248,276. Spray carburetters. TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO K.K. April 22, 1969 [April 23, 1968], No.20587/69. Heading F1B. A carburetter for an I. C. engine, having an idling and slow-running circuit 9, Fig. 1, has a valve-controlled additional circuit 24a, 24b which supplies additional mixture to avoid misfiring of the engine during rapid deceleration thereof. The circuit 9 comprises air bleeds 7, 11, a fuel jet 10 and an economizer jet 12, and has a slow-running slit 8 and an adjustable idling port 13. The valve 31 in the circuit 24a, 24b is normally closed by an adjustable spring 39, but is opened by a diaphragm 33 when a high vacuum is created in the intake manifold 40 due to rapid decelerations of the engine. The circuit 24a, 24b has bleeds 17, 19 and jets 16, 18 similar to the circuit 9. When the valve 31 is opened air passes through the circuit 24a, 24b from an adjustable inlet 21 fowards an outlet 22 downstream of the throttle valve 6. Thus mixture is drawn from a passage 26 via an adjustable valve 27 into the air-flow, and the resulting mixture passes through the outlet 22 to the inlet manifold to supplement the mixture supplied from the circuit 9. The inlet 21 may be formed by a tube (21<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 2 (not shown), projecting upwardly and inwardly into the intake passage 2. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the valve (23<SP>1</SP>) in the circuit (24a, 24b) is of the electromagnetically-actuated type energized and thereby opened by a battery (42) through a diaphragm-actuated switch (41) which is closed when high vacuum occurs in the intake manifold to which it is attached. The electrical circuit includes a light (46) which indicates when the valve (23<SP>1</SP>) is open. Many of the parts of this latter embodiment may be mounted separately of the carburetter.
