Abstract
1,254,458. Spray carburetters. NISSAN MOTOR CO. Ltd. Dec. 4, 1968 [March 30, 1968], No. 57539/68. Heading F1B. In a compound carburetter having primary and secondary induction passages with respective throttle valves and slow running circuits, the slow running circuit of the secondary passage comprises a fuel-air mixture 16 which communicates with a port 29 downstream of the throttle valve 10 when the valve 23 is operated in response to the vacuum in the intake manifold on over-running. In the embodiment shown the diaphragm switch 18<SP>1</SP> closes the circuit of the solenoid 32 on over-running and mixture flowing through the valve port 26 and air flowing through the slow running port 17 are delivered to the induction passage through the port 29. The valve 23 may be connected directly to a diaphragm (19), Fig. 4 (not shown), subject to the intake manifold vacuum through a conduit (25). The slow running circuit of the primary induction passage may be arranged to supply an engine with a mixture with an air-fuel ratio in the range from 14:1 to 15:1 during engine idling and the slow running circuits of both induction passages may supply a mixture with an air-fuel ratio in the range from 12:1 to 13:1 during over-running.
