Abstract

1,246,020. Sodium silicofluoride. CENTRAL GLASS CO. Ltd. 3 July, 1969 [7 July, 1968], 33689/69. Heading C1A. Sodium silicofluoride containing gypsum and/or phosphate impurity is purified by forming a slurry by contacting sodium silicofluoride containing gypsum and/or phosphate impurities with an aqueous solution containing at least 0À5% by wt. of sodium chloride, agitating the slurry and separating the silicofluoride from the solution. The aqueous solution may also contain mineral acids, magnesium chloride and nitrate, ammonium chloride, sodium nitrate, carbonate and borofluoride and/or water soluble sodium salts of organic acids. The amount of aqueous solution may be from 10 to 350 litres per kilogram of sodium silicofluoride with agitation times of from 5 to 60 mins.
