Abstract

1334871 Non-caking urea COMPAGNIE NEERLANDAISE DE L'AZOTE 2 Aug 1971 [6 Aug 1970] 38046/70 Heading C2C The tendency of urea particles to cake is reduced by treating urea with an aqueous solution of dimethylol urea and/or trimethylol urea containing 2 to 5 moles of bonded plus free formaldehyde per mole of urea in the solution. Preferably 3 to 300 gm of dimethylol urea and/or trimethylol urea are used per 100 kg of urea to be treated and the aqueous solution contains no more than 20% by weight of water. The urea which is treated may be in the form of particles (e.g. crystals, pellets, prills or granules) or may be in the form of a melt or aqueous solution wherein the mixture obtained after treatment is processed to form urea particles.
