Abstract

Urea prills poor in biuret are prepared by heating urea crystals to produce a melt which still contains urea crystals, dividing said melt into drops containing such crystals and solidifying said drops into prills. The melting process may be carried out continuously and ammonia may be fed in to inhibit or retard biuret formation during the melting.
