1,136,607. Phosphate fertilizers. THOMASPHOSPHATFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. 30 Dec., 1965 [7 Jan., 1965; 31 March, 1965], No. 55220/66. Heading C1B. Water-insoluble crude calcium phosphate material is mixed with ammonium or an alkali metal phosphate in the presence of water and then granulated and dried, under such conditions that substantial conversion of the added phosphate to water-insoluble form is avoided. Any basically reacting calcium may be first or simultaneously neutralized by treatment with acid, e.g. hydrochloric, phosphoric, nitric or phosphoric/nitric acid or ammonium phosphate of pH 4-6. Potassium chloride and/or urea may be added to the acid. The crude material may be basic slag, metallurgical lime or sinter phosphate.
