Abstract

1,243,617. Selective printing. MOHAWK DATA SCIENCES CORP. 6 May, 1970 [27 June, 1969], No. 21938/70. Heading B6F. A type slug 5 is attached to a toothed endless type belt 6a by means of projecting portions 19, 20 which support pins 24 engaging the teeth 16 on the belt. The pins 24 are in the form of elongate coil springs. The slugs 5 are attached to every second tooth on the belt, the belt being driven by a gear-wheel having alternate narrow and wide notches, e.g. a gear-wheel having every third tooth removed. The belt is employed in a high-speed printer (Fig. 1) having a continuously driven type belt passing past a row of electromagnetically actuable hammers (4a) and printing on pin-tractor fed stationery. The slugs may be made of beryllium copper, hardened steel or metal coated plastics material. A support bar is located behind the slugs when in printing position and may be formed of aluminium or chrome-plated steel.
