Abstract

1,244,223. Typewriters. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 31 Dec., 1968 [9 Jan., 1968], No. 61801/68. Heading B6F. [Also in Division B3] A tabulator rack 26 is provided with tabulator stops 25 non-uniformly spaced in accordance with a given relation utilizing machine tolerances in such a manner that when the tabulator rack is utilized with for example a typewriter or a machine tool having an escapement rack 27 with substitutable sets of 10 and 12 pitch escapement teeth the tabulator rack may be utilized with either set of teeth. The number of tabulator stops per inch on the tabulator rods must be equal in number to the teeth on escapement rack having the highest number of teeth per inch. The escapement rack 27 may be of the type described in Specification 1,212,928. The above described tabulator rack overcomes the problem which arises if a tabulator rack designed for either 10 or 12 pitch is utilized with an escapement rack of different pitch.
