1,242,537. Treating textiles; paper and board. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. 30 Sept., 1968 [4 Dec., 1967], No. 54992/67. Headings DIP and D2B. [Also in Divisions B2 and C3] Cation-active polymer dispersions for impregnating fibrous materials contain as dispersing agent an imidazoline salt of the formula: in which R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen, or C 1 -C 18 alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl, R<SP>2</SP> is C 1 -C 18 alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl, and n is 1-4, they are obtained by an emulsion polymerisation using the imidazoline salt as dispersing agent. In the examples polyvinyl acetate and vinyl acetate/butyl acrylate copolymer are prepared. The dispersions are used to impregnate fibrous materials, e.g. cellulose, viscose, nylon, glass, leather, pulp, or wood pulp, or are added to fibreboard pulp.
