Abstract
124,057. Pickard, W., and Dobson, D. R. March 15, 1918. Four - stroke - cycle engines; plant.-Gas of a low calorific value is generated in a producer a, which is described in Specification 119,399, [Class 55 (ii), Gas manufacture &c.], and fed to a cylinder under pressure to be used expansively, before ignition. The gas expands during the first outstroke and on the return stroke it is forced into a. charge of air stored in a chamber adjacent the cylinder head. The combustible mixture is then ignited and the resulting gases act upon the piston in the ordinary way, being expelled from the cylinder during the second instroke. Exhaust gases are led from the cylinder through a pipe 2 to the producer which delivers gas to the cylinder through a pipe 1 or to a reservoir i through a pipe 3.
