Abstract

1,238,337. Fluid blast switches. D. KIND. 30 Aug., 1968 [31 Aug., 1967], No. 41598/68. Heading H1N. An oil blast switch has a bridging contact 1 movable away from fixed contacts 3, 4 by a stream of oil flowing along the passage 5, the arcs developing between the bridging contact 1 and the fixed contacts 3, 4 being driven by the stream of oil into tubular outlet passages 8, 9 respectively. Arcing horns 10, 11 are attached to the fixed contacts 3, 4. Three series connected switches (Fig. 2, not shown) may be housed in a single insulating block 12. A modified form of contact 1 (Figs. 3a-3c, not shown) has a plurality of resilient fingers providing a plug and socket type connection with the fixed contacts and also a separate arcing contact region.
