Abstract
123,759. Zehnder, A. Feb. 25, 1918, [Convention date]. Rotary batch-mixers.-In apparatus for heating and stirring eggs, cream, &c., the beater is operated from two pairs of interacting friction wheels, two of which, of the same diameter and with parallel axes, carry a piece for supporting the beater, the points of attachment of the piece to the two wheels being eccentric and similarly situated thereon. The basin may be rotated, a clutch being provided to stop this rotation when desired. As shown, the beater is adjustably attached to an arm 16<a> on a frame 16 attached in the same relative positions to the friction wheels 13<a>, 14a which are driven from similar wheels 13, 14 on the shaft of a pulley 11 driven from a pulley 6. The pulley 6 is driven by a friction disk 7 longitudinally adjustable on its shaft which carries a driving pulley; the speed of the pulley 6 may thus be varied. Its shaft carries a clutch 3 through which a worm gear 2, Fig. 2, is actuated to rotate the basin. A collar 10 having lateral cams may be rotated through a lever system 20 to push the pulley 6 out of engagement with the disk 7 and stop the rotation of the beater and basin. The disk 7 is provided with a band brake. The basin may be lifted from its seat by a foot-actuated pusher 21. The wheels 13<a>, 14<a> and associated parts may be inclined to the horizontal, so that the beater moves in an inclined path.
