Abstract

332,230. R÷hl, F., and Hofmann, F. April 16, 1929. Divided on and addition to 309,870, under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 17, 1929. Gear wheels, trueing teeth of; tools.-In lapping toothed gears in the manner described in the parent Specification, one of the coacting gears is arranged to drive the second gear against the resistance of a brake which is mounted on the spindle of the second gear and which determines the lapping pressure. A driving shaft h carrying a crank-disc t is arranged to oscillate a shaft v carrying a double lever w which imparts axial reciprocating movement to a pair of gear-carrying spindles s, s<1>. The spindles are rotated at a slow speed for the feeding movement by means of a shaft m, worm gearing p and spur gearing r. The spindles s, s<1> coact respectively with spindles d<1>, d" carrying mating gears, these spindles being carried on pivoted arms c' and being operated to give the radial component of the lapping movement by means of adjustable connecting-rods actuated from the shaft m through bevel gearing o, y and crank disc z. The spindles d<1>, d<11>, are mounted on adjustable sleeves 7, Fig. 4, and the required lapping pressure is obtained by means of springs 10 and brake lining 12.
