[Class 120 (ii).] Mechanism for controlling the speed of ring spinning-frames, wherein two motions are combined, of which one is derived from the member producing the reciprocating motion of the ring rail and the other from the member producing the progressive motion, comprises a suitably shaped cam 1 loosely mounted on a shaft 2, which is operated in accordance with the reciprocating and progressive movements of the ring rail and drives the cam in one direction by means of a wheel 4 so that by means of a bowl 6 a lever 12, adjustably pivoted at 13 and carrying a bowl 16, is displaced and operates a cable 28 connected with a speed-changing device 30. The cable is connected to a lever 9 which is oscillated about a pivot constituted by the axle 7 of the bowl 6 by a rod 11 adjustably connected to an arm 21 on a shaft 22 reciprocating in accordance with the ring rail. As the bowl 6 is moved by the cam 1 in the slot of the lever 9, the amplitude of the movement imparted to the cable 28 by the lever is varied, and this, in conjunction with the movement imparted by the bowl 16, effects the necessary movement of the speedchanging device 30.
