Abstract
194,254. Soc. Alsacienne de Constructions MÚcaniques. March 1, 1922, [Convention date]. Mules.-In mules of the kind described in Specification 162,629, having a continuously-rotating driving-shaft, the speed of which varies between narrow limits, in order to obtain flexibility in the starting of the carriage on the outward run, means is provided to allow slip between the first motion shaft and the driving-shaft for a regulatable period at this change. The driving- shaft C is driven from the motor A or other first motion shaft by a belt B controlled by a tension pulley D carried by a counterweighted lever E. As the carriage runs in, an adjustable projection H engages a spring lever I and, through a cord K, draws down the lever E and slackens the belt. As the carriage runs out, the lever moves back and the pulley D re-engages the belt, increasing the tension gradually under the influence of the weights F, G, and enabling the shaft C, which has been rotating by reason of its inertia, to take up its normal speed. The lever I may be operated from the stop-rod L by the cam-piece M. The motor A can be started without any load and the load applied gradually to a smooth motion of the rod L. The mule can be stopped by means of the declutching device without stopping the motor A. Specification 14304/91 is referred to.
