Driving-arrangements.-Ring spinning, doubling, twisting, and like machines are driven by a constant-speed electromotor connected with a shaft 11 through variable-speed gearing comprising expanding pulleys 1, 1<a>, operated by levers 5, 6, which are moved about their fulcra 10<a> by nuts 10 on a right and left handed screw 8, which is operated by gearing from a moving part of the machine to vary the speed of the tin-rollers, and may be adjusted by a hand-wheel 15 to determine the initial speed. The shaft 11 is coupled to the tin-roller shaft by a centrifugal clutch 12 or other device.
