[Also in Group IX] In a drive for a ring spinning frame for the production of fancy yarns the relative speeds of the front and back rollers and tin roller are varied by an independent variable-speed drive to two of the drives, the variable-speed drive being controlled by a mechanism rotated at low speed from a constant-speed drive for the front rollers or tin roller. The front drafting roller shaft A rotates at constant speed and by a worm a and wheel a drives on edge cam B. A follower B<SP>1</SP> on the cam B imparts reciprocating motion hy a rod b to a lever b<SP>2</SP>, a coupling b<SP>5</SP> and a control lever d<SP>1</SP>of a variable-speed gearbox D, through which the drive of the tin roller shaft c is obtained from an independent motor C<SP>1</SP>.The upper end of the lever b<SP>2</SP> carries a cam b3, and the follower b<SP>4</SP> is connected through a rod b<SP>6</SP> to a control lever d<SP>3</SP> controlling a changespeed gear-box D<SP>1</SP> through which the drive of the back roller shaft F is derived from the motor C<SP>1</SP>. Alternatively, the front roller shaft A in addition to the back roller shaft F may be driven at variable speed and the tin roller shaft C be driven at constant speed. In a modification the lever b<SP>2</SP> is reciprocated by hydraulic means instead of the two change-speed gearboxes D, D<SP>1</SP>driven from a constant-speed motor C<SP>1</SP>a variable-speed motor may be employed, the speed of the motor being controlled by the cam B on the slow-speed shaft A<SP>1</SP>.
