Abstract
695,062. Amusement devices. MEYER, O. May 10, 1951. No. 10998/51. Class 132 (i). An amusement device, e.g. of roundabout type, has a passage carrying gondola supported on an arm rockable in the vertical direction by an air screw mounted adjacent, and controllable from, the gondola. As shown, an arm 7 mounted on a rotary frame 11 carries a gondola 1 at one end and a motor 9 having a flywheel 13 at the other. Rocking of arm 7 is limited by stops 21, 22 and downward speed thereof is limited by a centrigfual brake on a shaft 18. Motor 9 is connected to frame 11 through a multiple cable line 17 and a rotatable ring 16. The weight, of the loaded gondola is balanced by moving a weight 19. A shaft 10 within arm 7 is driven, through coupling 14, by motor 9 and drives change speed gear 3 controlled by means 8 which drives air screws 5, 6 in opposite directions. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 2, the motor 9 may be mounted on the gondola and the weights 19 increased and provided with a motor 23 for their adjustment.
