Abstract
1,235,255. Electric incandescent lamp. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 5 Sept., 1969 [9 Sept., 1968], No. 44163/69. Heading H1F. A halogen regenerative cycle incandescent lamp comprises a tungsten filament and a fill gas including an inert gas, oxygen and a hydrocarbon compound of iodine. The compound of iodine is preferably methyl iodide but may also be iodoform or methylene iodide. The inert gas may be nitrogen, argon, krypton or xenon. A tubular element of fused silica or a glass of high softening point is used in the embodiment together with molybdenum foils. It is suggested that the transport agent in the regenerative cycle is W0 2 1 2 . The Specification compares the performance of the lamp with those containing methyl bromide or HI.
