Abstract
1,235,037. Inductors. DALE ELECTRONICS Inc. 15 Sept., 1969, No. 45464/69. Heading H1T. [Also in Division H2] An impedance element for use in a surge arrestor apparatus is constructed so that its impedance value increases as the frequency of the current flowing in the element increases. The winding of the impedance element is formed from a flat strip 60 of conductive magnetic material having terminal pins 62, 64 at opposite ends thereof. The strip 60, interleaved with a strip 66 of insulating material is wound into a tight spiral to form the coil of the impedance element. The increase in the impedance value of the element as the frequency of the current flowing therein increases is caused principally by the "skin effect" forcing the current to flow more and more in the edges 68, 70 of the strip 60.
