Abstract

1,032,626. Transformers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 17, 1962 [Oct. 18, 1961], No. 37320/61. Heading H1T. A transformer winding 11 is surrounded by a shield composed of a number of overlapping conducting strips 14, 14<SP>1</SP>, 1411 &c. disposed along the winding and insulated from one another over most of their length but connected (through soldering to a split cylindrical strip 21) at one end of the winding. The strips 14, 14<SP>1</SP> &c. may be nickel silver strips enclosed except at their upper ends (which are connected to strip 21) in paper envelopes 15, further insulation 17, 18, 19 being provided. The overlapping ends of cylindrical strip 21, which may be earthed, are separated by the insulating strips 18, 19.
