Abstract
1,134,098. Transformers. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 26 Nov., 1965 [26 Nov., 1964], No. 50312/65. Heading H1T. Electrical screening members for transformers and other electrical apparatus are formed using an insulating tape 38 (Fig. 10), having separate conducting areas 39 coated thereon. The conducting areas may be produced from metal or carbon by printing or vapour deposition and may be surrounded by conducting areas of higher resistance. The gaps may be half the length of the conducting areas they separate. A screening member may be formed by wrapping a screening tape and possibly an insulating tape(s) round a pressboard support (Fig. 2, not shown). Alternatively the screening tape may have both edges folded inwards and may be enclosed in an insulating wrapping (44), (Fig. 7, not shown). Stiffening may be provided by a further tape or pressboard member (41), (50) which may be inside (Fig. 6, not shown), or outside (Fig. 8, not shown), the insulating wrapping (44). Some or all of the tapes and stiffeners may be of absorbent material such as pressboard or paper or the tapes may be of plastics foil. A shielding ring may be made by winding one or more tapes (48), (Fig. 9, not shown), together with insulating tape (50) to form a ring at the end of a winding (52). The conducting areas adjacent the ends of the screening tape may be shortened and may be of high resistance. The screening tape may be of crepe form.
