Abstract

1,231,659. Rotary mowers. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR A.G. 29 Aug., 1968 [11 Sept., 1967], No. 41229/68. Heading A1F. A rotary mower comprises a cross-beam 1 carrying vertical axis cutters 2 driven by shaft 5, the cross-beam being pivotally connected to a tractor-attachment bracket 9 by a link 10 pivotally connected between horizontal fore-and-aft hinge pins 12, 11 on the bracket and cross-beam respectively to permit rocking of the cross-beam in a vertical plane and bodily up and down movement of the cross-beam. A bevel gear 7 has its input shaft connected directly to a telescopic driving shaft from a tractor. A brace 14 has a slot 15 to allow movement of the cross-beam, the brace supporting the cross-beam in a raised transport position. In a modification the cross-beam is pivoted on a horizontal fore-and-aft hinge pin on a pillar vertically slidable in guides on a tractor-attachment bracket. In a further modification the cross-beam is pivoted on a horizontal fore-and-aft hinge pin on a tractor-attachment bracket to be carried by a freely pivotable three-point linkage on a tractor. A spring (21), Fig. 4 (not shown), may be provided between the cross-beam and the tractor-attachment bracket.
