Abstract

1,227,877. Crane hooks. JOHN LAING & SON Ltd. 15 May, 1969 [31 May, 1968], No. 26287/68. Heading B8H. A crane hook, 1, 2, 3, Fig. 1, is supported by a wheeled block 13 which is moved along a steel joist 12 by a screw 12 when a handle 16 is rotated to bring the block over the centre of gravity of the hook plus the load. As described the load is shuttering 4 for the floor 7 of a building. Figs. 2, 3, 4 and 6 (not shown), illustrate constructions in which the lifting cable is attached to a pivoted link or links which are turned so that the centre of gravity of the hook and load are vertically below the lifting cable by winches and cables or manually. In the latter case the links are restrained either by adjustable stops or pins. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which a shackle 18 attached to a cable 39 which is moved round a pulley 38 by a winch 38.
