Abstract

[Also in Division G3] A stop 4 limiting the range of movement of the fuel control rack 2 of a diesel engine fuel injection pump 1 is moved to its limiting position when the temperature of the engine exhaust gases exceeds a threshold value. An element 8 sensing the exhaust gas temperature provides a signal which is referred in an amplifier and threshold unit 9 to a reference level. When the reference level is exceeded an electrical supply 10 is connected to the actuator 11 of an electro magnetically actuated valve 12, which connects a fluid pressure supply line 13 to the stop cylinder 7, to move the stop 4 against the shoulder 3a. The normal range of movement of the rack 2 is set by a screw 6 and the cylinder 7 may be connected to an exhaust conduit 14 when the sensed temperature falls below the threshold value or a further predetermined temperature.
