Abstract
1371691 Recycling exhaust gases in I C engines ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 4 Feb 1972 [6 Feb 1971] 5233/72 Heading F1B [Also in Division F2] An electromagnetic valve 13 to control recycling of exhaust gases in I. C. engines comprises a valve housing 20 and a double acting valve closure member 25 actuable through stem 26 by an electromagnet 28 and which in one terminal position (as shown) co-operates with a valve seat 24 to block passage of exhaust gases through the housing and in its other terminal position allows the passage of exhaust gases through the housing and rests against a seat 44 to prevent passage of exhaust gases to the electromagnet. The electromagnet is connected to the housing by a thin walled tube 31 of low thermal conductivity material, for example high alloy chrome nickel steel. The valve allows recycling of engine exhaust gases in response to signals from a control unit (16), Fig.1 (not shown), which may be a function of engine operating conditions such as speed, induction pipe vacuum and/or throttle valve position.
