Abstract

1445849 Fuel supply to IC engines ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 7 Aug 1973 [8 Aug 1972] 37323/73 Heading F1B A fuel metering system for I.C. engines comprises a fuel feed line 4 connected to an air intake pipe 6, the line 4 containing a constriction 5, Fig. 1, or 17, Fig. 4 with which is associated a by-pass 10 having an electrically operated valve 11 adapted to open in use with a frequency corresponding to the engine induction frequency, the duration of the open and closed times being dependent upon engine operating conditions. The valve may be responsive to engine speed, load or temperature or atmospheric humidity, pressure or temperature or to the oxygen content of engine exhaust gas. A second fuel feed line (4') may be provided in parallel with line 4, Fig. 2 (not shown) the constriction 5' being by-passed by fuel line (10'). In Figs. 3 (not shown) and 4, fuel flow via the line 4 is controlled in response to air-flow in pipe 6 by a needle 15.
