Abstract

1289053 Regulating DAIMLER-BENZ A G 15 Oct 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 49096/70 Heading F1B A four-stroke I.C. engine having an antipollution after-combustion chamber connected to its exhaust system, has the opening of its exhaust valves advanced with decreasing engine speed and/or decreasing load below a medium speed and/or load range, so that the temperature of the after-combustion chamber does not fall below a minimum value. Additionally, the opening of the exhaust valves may be advanced with increasing speed and/or load above a medium speed and/ or load ranges to provide favourable gas exhaust and mixture or air admission. The engine speed may be sensed by a centrifugal governor, and the load sensing means may comprise a device for detecting the position of a throttle valve in an admission passage or the position of a regulating rod in a fuel-injection pump.
