Abstract

In a Vee engine cylinder units 5 are mounted in rows in a frame top part having angularly arranged surfaces 2, 3 which are broader than the individual cylinder units, a cam shaft 14, 15 is mounted in a box 17 fitted on the surface 2, 3 at the side of the cylinder remote from the central plane and a transmission between the crank-shaft and the two camshafts is located at one end of the frame. Exhaust gas driven turbines 10 drive compressors 11 to supply charging air through conduit 12. Each cylinder has a fuel pump 13. The engine may be a 4-stroke or when arranged as a 2-stroke has air inlet openings arranged in the cylinder liner below the cooling jacket and the space between surfaces 2, 3 and wall 6 arranged as a charging air receiver.
