Abstract
1,224,463. Tyre pressure indicator device. F. T. THOMPSON, and R. A. BARLOW. 24 April, 1968 [6 April, 1967], No. 15862/67. Heading B7C. A tyre pressure indicator comprises a magnet 20, the position of which is dependent on the tyre pressure, a reed switch 23 mounted on a stationary part of the vehicle to detect the magnet, and an electrical circuit (not shown) associated with the reed switch, the arrangement being such that when the magnet is in a position corresponding to normal tyre pressure a pulse input to the circuit is generated on detection of the magnet by the reed switch per revolution of the wheel, and a fault in the tyre pressure is indicated when the pulse input changes or disappears. The magnet may be connected to or actuated by a plunger 19 responsive to tyre pressure, as shown in Fig. 1 or in Figs. 5-7 (not shown). A Bourdon tube or bellows device may be used instead of a plunger, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown). The electrical circuit may comprise a monostable gate circuit including transistors, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), and a faulty tyre pressure may be indicated either by a light signal or sound effect.
