Abstract

1,224,449. Magnetic separators. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 19 Feb., 1970 [19 Feb., 1969], No. 7974/70. Heading B2J. A process for washing and drying magnetisable material in a suspension comprises delivering the material 1 to a magnetic separator drum 4 where the solid material is removed in an upward direction and treating the material with a washing liquid from a nozzle 8, the solid material being stripped off the surface of the drum by a stripper 16. The washing liquid feed system 9 is provided with a heater 10. The drum is heated by passing steam through tubular coils 11. The material is dried by means of air which has been heated in a heater 14 and which is blown by means of an air supply system 15 through nozzles on to the solid material.
