A ship stabilizer comprises a hydrofoil 1 formed with an internal chamber 2 at the tip 7 of the hydrofoil and passages 5 disposed in at least one fore-and-aft row lead from the chamber and debouch at ports 6 in the surface of the hydrofoil in the vicinity of its tip. In the embodiment shown entry to the chamber 2 is through port 4 in the leading edge of the hydrofoil and passages 5 lead from the chamber in directions oblique and rearward with respect to the span 9 of the hydrofoil.
