Abstract
1,067,339. Stabilizing floating bodies. MUIRHEAD & CO. Ltd. March 16, 1966 [May 28, 1965], No. 22885/65. Heading B7M. [Also in Division E1] A floating body (1) has a stabilizer comprising a chamber (2) positioned to be at least partly below the waterline during the movement to be stabilized with a valve or valves (6) at the top providing access to the atmosphere or to a second chamber and an aperture or apertures (5) in the bottom or lower sides providing access to the ambient water, the valve(s) being connected to a control means (7) the action of which depends uponthe deviation of the floating body from its horizontal position, the chamber being offset from the side of the body a sufficient length for the adequate leverage for stabilization. Additional stabilizers may be provided along the same, or perpendicular, axes to the first.
