Abstract

972,196. Hydroplane vessels. J. W. ECROYD, and D. LODGE. June 25, 1962 [June 27, 1961], No. 23169/61. Heading B7A. A water craft has at least one longitudinal formation below the hull which has downwardly converging sides. In Fig. 1 the hull 1 has attached thereto two hollow V-shaped formations 9 which are open at each end and extend beyond the hull at the front and rear. Each formation is made from sheet material and has a flat bottom 9a and flanges 9b by which it is joined to the hull, the sides also depend beyond the bottom to form a channel. The sides of the formations may be curved and they may be rounded at the bottom. They may also be of increasing or decreasing cross-sectional area from end to end.
