Abstract
1,224,021. Metal sheathed heating elements. ESSEX PARTNERS Ltd. 3 Jan., 1969 [6 Jan., 1968], No. 965/68. Heading H5H. A termination is provided at the end of a metal sheathed heating element by securing a metal drip washer 12 to the end of the sheath 10; sliding a ceramic insulator 13 over a conductor 11, secured to the heating resistor, into the end of sheath 10 and into a recess 16 in washer 12; filling the bore 21 and socket 20 of the insulator 13 with a rubbery silicone resin; push fitting the socket 23 of a metal terminal 14 on to the wall of the socket 20 of insulator 13, so that the spigot 22 of the terminal 14 forces the silicone resin through the bore 21 of the insulator 13 and into the end of the sheath 10 to form a fluid tight seal with the end of the sheath; and finally hard soldering the conductor 11 to the end of the terminal 14. Relative rotation between the sheath 10 and insulator 13 is prevented by a grub screw. The heating element is intended for cooking appliances.
